Ordering & payment
How do I buy a container or cabin?
Add the product to your cart and check out as a guest, or send a Request a Quote for a full written quotation first. Either way you receive a formal invoice by email before any payment.
What payment methods do you accept?
Bank transfer (direct deposit). Payment instructions arrive with your invoice from info@oceanshippingpty.com; processing begins once funds are confirmed. Use your order number as the payment reference so funds match your order without delay.
Why bank transfer instead of card?
For purchases of this size, an invoice-and-transfer model is more secure for both sides: no card details ever touch the website, every payment is matched to a verifiable document, and there are no card surcharges hidden in the price.
Do I need an account?
No — guest checkout is always available. An account simply keeps your orders and quotation requests in one place, and prefills your details at checkout.
Can I cancel an order?
Yes. Unpaid orders can be cancelled at any time at no cost, and paid orders cancelled before dispatch are refunded in full. Once a unit has shipped, the 30-day returns process applies instead.
How long is a quotation valid?
Each quotation states its own validity period on the document. If yours has lapsed, ask us to refresh it — repricing takes minutes.
Shipping & delivery
How much is delivery?
A single flat fee per order, Australia-wide — the exact amount appears at checkout as soon as you enter your delivery postcode, before you place the order. It doesn't increase with the number of units on the order.
How long does delivery take?
5–11 business days in total: 0–4 days handling plus 5–7 days transit, Monday–Saturday. Orders before 3:00 PM AEST begin processing the same business day once payment is confirmed.
How is a container actually delivered?
Most units arrive on a tilt-tray truck: the tray tilts and the container slides off at ground level as the truck pulls forward. Side-loader, crane or HIAB delivery is arranged for sites without a straight run — tell us about your site and we plan the right vehicle.
What do I need to prepare on site?
Firm, level ground and clear access: roughly 3 m of width, about 4.5–5 m of overhead clearance (watch for power lines), and an approximately straight run of around 18–20 m for a 20 ft unit or up to 30 m for a 40 ft unit. Tell us about tight streets, overhead lines or soft ground when ordering.
Can you place the container exactly where I want it?
The unit is set down in line with the truck, so orientation is planned at booking. Precise placement — over a fence, onto a slab, rotated into position — is possible with crane or HIAB delivery; mention it when you order so we can confirm arrangements before dispatch.
Do I need a permit for my container?
On your own private land, often no — but councils differ on planning rules for containers, especially long-term placement, and any placement on public land or a road reserve needs council permission. Check your local council; getting any required approval is the buyer’s responsibility.
What if the truck can’t access my site on the day?
If access fails for a reason within your control (blocked route, unsafe ground, missing permit), reasonable redelivery or waiting charges can apply — always discussed with you first. Telling us about site constraints in advance is what keeps the flat rate flat.
Do you deliver outside Australia?
Delivery is currently Australia-wide only. Returns are accepted for orders delivered in Australia and New Zealand per the returns policy.
Returns & refunds
What is your return window?
30 days from delivery, for defective and non-defective products — including change of mind — in new or slightly used condition.
Who pays for the return?
A free return label is included in your package and there is no restocking fee. For full-size units the label reference is used to book the freight collection on your behalf.
How fast are refunds?
Refunds are processed within 7 days of the return being received and inspected, back to the account the payment came from.
Can I exchange instead of returning?
Yes — within the same 30-day window you can swap to a different size, height or condition grade. Any price difference is settled by invoice or refund.
What can’t be returned?
Units damaged after delivery or modified (cut, welded, painted, fitted out) can no longer be returned as supplied, and disclosed cosmetic wear on a used unit isn’t a defect. None of this limits your Australian Consumer Law rights for a faulty product.
GST & invoices
Is GST included?
GST is applied per Australian tax law at 10% and clearly itemised on your invoice; checkout shows the GST component included in your total as a guide. The applicable pricing format is confirmed on the invoice.
Can I get a tax invoice in my company name?
Yes — put the entity name (and ABN if you want it shown) in your order note, or tell us before the invoice is issued. Invoices for sales of $1,000 or more record the buyer identity as Australian tax-invoice rules require.
Can my business claim the GST back?
GST-registered businesses can generally claim input tax credits using our tax invoice, subject to their own tax position — your accountant or the ATO can confirm what applies to you.
Products & condition
What does "One Trip" mean?
The container has made a single cargo voyage from the factory — effectively new condition with only minor handling marks possible.
What’s the difference between used and refurbished?
A used unit is a structurally sound ex-service container with the honest cosmetic wear of a working life. A refurbished unit has been inspected, repaired where needed and typically repainted — cleaner presentation, used history.
Are specifications accurate?
Every listing carries the real dimensions, construction and features for that product. If a detail matters to your purchase, confirm it with us and we will verify before you pay.
Can containers be modified?
Many products in the Modified & Special range started as standard shells. Tell us your requirement in a quote request and the technical team will advise what is possible.
What should I put a container on?
Firm, level supports — railway sleepers, concrete blocks or a slab — with drainage away from the unit. Level support keeps the frame square so doors keep operating smoothly; it’s the single best thing you can do for a container’s life.
Do containers leak?
A unit sold as new, one-trip or refurbished arrives weather-resistant, and used units are supplied sealed as described on their listing. Check door seals stay clear of debris; any arrival issue is covered by the warranty policy.
Security & communication
How do I know an invoice is really from you?
Official invoices come only from info@oceanshippingpty.com and quote your real order reference. We never request payment via third-party messaging platforms or unverified links — verify by phone on +61 489 989 670 if unsure.
You emailed that your bank details changed — is that real?
Treat any "new bank details" message as suspicious and call +61 489 989 670 before transferring. Legitimate detail changes are rare and we always confirm them verbally.
Is my personal information safe?
We collect only what quotes, orders and delivery need, never sell it, and no card or banking credentials ever pass through the website. The Privacy and Security policies spell out the full picture.
